Meet Dr. Ralph Strother, MD, CCFP, FCFP, Diploma Sport Medicine

While many of us are cruising the Stampede grounds and watching the rodeo events and chuckwagon races, Dr. Ralph Strother will have a close-up view of the action. In addition to his work at INLIV, Dr. Strother is also a physician assisting the Canadian Pro Rodeo Sport Medicine Team.

“I love the Calgary Stampede, though my role extends well beyond those 10 days. I’m busy all year long with major rodeo events across Canada,” says Dr. Strother. “I’ve been working the Canadian rodeo circuit for more than 25 years now, so it has a familiar feel. I’m experiencing the third generation of some of these families competing in the rodeo.”

Dr. Ralph Strother is committed to assisting elite athletes across multiple sports. He serves as team physician for several Canadian national teams. From the National Men’s Volleyball Team to Bobsled and Luge, he has been the designated coordinating physician. As well, he helps as an event physician with Alpine and Freestyle Canada. He has assisted our Canadian athletes starting with the Olympics in Calgary, then onto other Summer and Winter Olympics, World Cups and World Championships.

In his role as a physician in INLIV’s Total Health Management program, Dr. Strother focuses on using a science-based approach and precision medicine to preserve and optimize the health of his clients. His clients include executives, families, weekend warriors, athletes and everything in between, and he appreciates his time with all of them.

What I enjoy most is that our INLIV clients have diverse backgrounds, and all of them are highly motivated to be healthy and flourish. They’re innately curious, interesting and engaged in their health and wellness.

“I’m an athlete, I’m a physician, and I have specialized training and an intense interest in sports medicine. What I enjoy most is that our INLIV clients have diverse backgrounds, and all of them are highly motivated to be healthy and flourish. They’re innately curious, interesting and engaged in their health and wellness. They want to live amazing lives and that’s our goal, too. My focus is to provide the full spectrum of service, working with patients to construct optimal care and rehabilitation plans, and to provide guidance on preventive measures to avoid injury, too.”

Despite his busy schedule with sports teams and his patients at INLIV, Dr. Strother still finds time for philanthropic ventures, lending his support to The Calgary Foundation, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Make-A-Wish Foundation, True Sport Foundation, The Calgary Zoological Society and more.

When relaxing, Dr. Strother enjoys time on the golf course, skiing and fly-fishing.
