WHAT TO EXPECT

Prior to your appointment booking, you will have a consultation with one of our medical technicians to review your skin concerns, treatment options available, your medications that may impact the treatment, and your expectations for the outcome. 

When booking your treatment, please note you should avoid sun exposure for two weeks prior. It’s important that you not have any cold sores, and not have been taking Accutane for six months or longer. We also recommend not consuming alcohol on the day of the procedure as it may cause inflammation and increase discomfort.

To begin your Fotona Micro Laser Peel appointment, topical numbing will be applied to the treatment area to help ease discomfort during the treatment. 

During your Micro Laser Peel, our medical technician will gently move the laser hand piece over the surface of your skin, as the laser beam treats the superficial layers of skin. Each guest is unique, though most report experiencing mild discomfort as the treatment progresses.

Following your Fotona Micro Laser Peel, you may experience symptoms for several hours to several days as your skin recovers. Some expected symptoms include: 

• Redness and temporary discomfort. Most guests experience approximately two days of redness 
• The timeframe you may experience redness will correlate to the intensity of your treatment. This will be reviewed with you during your consultation and your post-treatment care review 
• Temporary burning sensation that generally subsides within approximately three hours 
• Swelling in the treatment area, especially around the eyes 
• Dry, itchy skin, and peeling usually occurs as the skin exfoliates for three to five days after treatment 
• Possible risks may include burns, blisters or bruising 

To help the healing process and allow your skin to normalize:

• As using a topical emollient can help maintain the skin barrier and promote healing, you will be supplied with some to take home along with your post-care instructions 
• You will also receive a post-treatment care kit to aid in hydrating the skin once it begins to peel 
• It is imperative that you not pick at the peeling skin that results from your treatment 
• Do not use any active or harsh products for 10 – 14 days. Our medical aesthetics coordinator will review these products with you 
• Avoiding sun exposure for the first 10 days is recommended 
• Sunblock should be used for 10 – 14 days to help protect the new skin that is revealed by the laser treatment 
• We recommend wearing sunblock every day to help you maintain the results from your treatment 

Please remember, your skin is unique and individual results may vary. 

HOW IT WORKS 

As the Fotona Micro Laser Peel passes over your skin, the laser removes approximately 10 – 30 microns of the epidermis in a pixelated pattern. As this superficial skin is removed, it can help reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and pigmentation, while improving the skin’s texture and tone. The laser treatment also stimulates collagen production for longer lasting skin rejuvenation.
